9/24     海協會鄭立中常務副會長一行來台參訪

大陸海協會常務副會長鄭立中等一行6人來台進行經貿交流,陸委會主任秘書兼海基會副秘書長楊家駿赴機場接機,此行係兩岸兩會會務例行交流活動,鄭立中一行參訪台中、彰化、南投、桃園、基隆、新北市、台北市等縣市與自由經濟示範區相關企業,並走訪農漁業、糕餅業及公益團體。


10/7     我今年經濟成長預估將增至3.46%

中華經濟研究院宣布,台灣今年經濟成長預估將增至3.46%,經濟表現穩定復甦,漸入佳境,而在經濟體系穩定、就業狀況良好的情形下,薪資亦可望慢慢增加。財政部公布,我今年9月海關統計出口「連八紅」,較去年同期增加4.7%,預期10月出口應可繼續成長,全年出口將優於預期。依國際貨幣基金(IMF)的預測,我2014、2015年經濟成長分別估計可達3.5%和3.8%,躍為4小龍第二。


10/10   總統出席國慶大會

馬英九總統伉儷出席「中華民國中樞暨各界慶祝103年國慶大會」,總統並以「以民主為傲,以台灣為榮」為題發表演說。今年國慶各國使節及專程來台祝賀之外賓包括布吉納法索總統龔保雷(Blaise Compaoré)伉儷、巴拉圭共和國總統卡提斯(Horacio Cartes)、宏都拉斯共和國副總統艾蕾拉(Lorena Enriqueta Herrera Estévez de Enamorado)暨夫婿、巴拿馬共和國第一夫人羅蕾娜(Lorena Isabel Castillo de Varela)及尼加拉瓜共和國國會議長努內斯(Santos René Núñez Téllez)伉儷等。此外,大陸台商協會會長及代表們也受邀參與國慶慶典。


10/13   大陸前3季進出口值年增1.8%

中國大陸海關總署公布,大陸今年前3季進出口總值人民幣19.4兆元,比去年同期成長1.8%,進出口形勢逐季好轉,今年前3季出口10.4兆元,年增3.6%,進口9兆元,年減0.1%。貿易順差1.4兆元,擴大35.3%。前3季大陸對主要貿易夥伴雙邊貿易有成長。大陸與歐盟雙邊貿易總值為2.81兆元,年增10.2%,占大陸進出口總值的14.5%;與美國的雙邊貿易總值為2.48兆元,年增5.2%,占12.8%。大陸與東南亞國家協會(ASEAN)雙邊貿易總值為2.13兆元,年增6%,占11%;與日本雙邊貿易總值為1.43兆元,年增0.4%,占7.4%。但中國大陸與香港雙邊貿易1.61兆元,年減13%,占大陸進出口總值的8.3%。


10/17   總統出席「淡江大橋」開工典禮

馬英九總統出席於新北市八里區舉辦的「淡江大橋」開工典禮,期許大橋工程能如期如質完成,以有效改善當地交通狀況,並帶來更多觀光商機。「淡江大橋」主橋段為900公尺、全長共計6公里,由交通部、內政部及新北市政府等單位共同分擔興建經費。


10/20   大陸召開第18屆中央委員會第4次全體會議

大陸第18屆中央委員會第4次全體會議10月20日至23日在北京召開,以「依法治國」為主題,總目標是「建設中國特色社會主義法治體系,建設社會主義法治國家」,同時提出「五個體系」及「六大任務」。


10/21   林董事長率團赴上海、江蘇關懷台商

海基會林中森董事長於10月21日至26日率「關懷上海、江蘇台商參訪團」赴上海、江蘇無錫、常州、泰州、揚州及鎮江進行6天參訪,期間除會見海協會陳德銘會長外,並出席「上海台商協會20周年慶」、「泰州台商協會第5屆理監事就職典禮」,參訪當地台資企業、與台商座談,除傾聽台商心聲,同時廣宣兩岸服務貿易協議相關內容,在會見各地官員時反映台商意見,協助台商解決問題。


10/22   大陸批准新設5機場及3條鐵路

大陸國家發展和改革委員會公布,將新設吉林省松原機場、青海省果洛機場、內蒙扎蘭屯機場、雲南省瀾滄機場和貴州仁懷機場等5個機場,總投資額人民幣54.9億元;黔江至張家界至常德、商丘至合肥至杭州、鄭州至萬州等3條鐵路項目,總投資額人民幣1,445.16億元人民幣。


10/22   大陸第3季GDP增長7.3%

大陸國家統計局公布最新報告顯示,大陸2014年第3季國內生產毛額(GDP)比去年同期成長7.3%,創近6年新低,大陸國務院總理李克強表示,此增速在預計區間內,大陸經濟成長品質正在提高。

9/24    ARATS Vice Chairman Zheng Lizhong leads a delegation to Taiwan

ARATS Executive Vice Chairman Zheng Lizhong led a six-person delegation to Taiwan for economic and trade exchanges. MAC Chief Secretary and SEF Deputy Secretary-General Yang Chia-chun welcomed the visitors at the airport. The visit was arranged for routine exchanges on SEF-ARATS meeting affairs. In addition, the delegation visited Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, Taoyuan, Keelung, New Taipei City, Taipei and other counties and cities. The group also visited free economic pilot zone enterprises and agricultural, fishing, and bakery enterprises and public interest groups. 


10/7     Taiwan's economy forecast increases to  3.46% this year

The Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research raised its economic growth forecast for Taiwan this year to 3.46%. It noted that the economy is steadily recovering and improving. Economic stability and a strong employment situation should lead to a gradual increase in wages. The Ministry of Finance announced Taiwan customs statistics for September this year. Exports built on eight months of consecutive growth, increasing by 4.7% over the same period last year. The ministry expects exports to gain further in October and end the year with better-than-expected results. The International Monetary Fund forecast that Taiwan's economic growth in 2014 and 2015 would reach 3.5% and 3.8%, respectively, ranking Taiwan second among the Four Asian Tigers. 


10/10   President Ma attends the National Day celebration

President Ma Ying-jeou attended the 2014 National Day Celebration" with his wife and presented an address entitled "Proud of Our Democracy, Proud of Taiwan." This year's National Day was joined by envoys of various foreign countries and international guests who traveled to Taiwan for the event. Among the visitors were Burkina Faso President Blaise Compaoré and his wife, President of the Republic of Paraguay Horacio Cartes, Vice-President of the Republic of Honduras Lorena Enriqueta Herrera Estévez de Enamorado and her husband, First Lady of the Republic of Panama Lorena Isabel Castillo de Varela, and President of the National Assembly of Nicaragua Santos René Núñez Téllez and his wife. Presidents and representatives of the mainland chapters of the Taiwanese Businessmen's Association also participated in the celebration. 


10/13   Mainland's two-way trade increases 1.8% YoY in the third quarter

Mainland China's General Administration of Customs announced that the value of imports and exports in the mainland amounted to RMB19.4 trillion in first three quarters of this year, a year over year (YoY) increase of 1.8% compared to the same period last year. The trade situation is improving quarterly, with exports reaching RMB10.4 trillion in the first three quarters of the year, a 3.6% YoY gain, and imports slipping 0.1% to RMB9 trillion, widening the mainland's trade surplus by 35.3% to RMB1.4 trillion. The mainland grew bilateral trade with its major trading partners in the first three quarters. The value of trade between the mainland and European Union was RMB2.81 trillion, up 10.2% and accounting for 14.5% of the mainland's import and export value; trade with the United States gained 5.2% to RMB2.48 trillion, amounting to 12.8% of the total; trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) increased by 6% to RMB2.13 trillion, or 11% the total; trade with Japan reached RMB1.43 trillion, up 0.4% to take a 7.4% share of the total; and trade with Hong Kong fell 13% to RMB1.61 trillion, amounting to 8.3% of the total. 


10/17   President Ma attends the Tamkang Bridge groundbreaking ceremony

President Ma Ying-jeou attended the Tamkang Bridge groundbreaking ceremony in Bali District, New Taipei City. He expressed hope that the bridge construction would be successfully completed on schedule and up to quality standards, helping to improve local traffic conditions and create new tourism opportunities. The Tamkang Bridge will be six kilometers long, including the 900-meter main section. The construction will be funded by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Ministry of the Interior, New Taipei City Government and other units. 


10/20   Mainland convenes the Fourth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee

The Fourth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee was held in Beijing on October 20 to 23 under the theme of "Ruling of Law." The overall objectives outlined at the session were "building socialist politics with Chinese characteristics and building a socialist country ruled by law." The session also proposed "five systems" and "six tasks."


10/21   Chairman Lin leads a delegation to visit Taiwan businesspeople  in Shanghai and Jiangsu

SEF Chairman Lin Join-sane led a delegation to visit Taiwan businesspeople in Shanghai and Jiangsu from October 21 to 26. The group traveled to Shanghai, Wuxi, Changzhou, Taizhou, Yangzhou and Zhenjiang during the six-day visit. The delegation met with ARATS Chairman Chen Te-ming and attended the  20th anniversary of the Shanghai Taiwan Businessmen's Association and inauguration of the fifth-term boards of directors and supervisors of the Taizhou Taiwan Business Association. In addition, the group called on Taiwanese enterprises and attended a Taiwan business forum to hear the hopes of Taiwanese businesspeople, as well as to promote the content of the Cross-Strait Trade in Services Agreement. The delegation also met with officials in the various places visited to convey the views of the Taiwan business community and seek help in resolving the problems faced by Taiwan businesspeople. 


10/22   Mainland approves the establishment of five airports and three railways

The mainland's State Development and Reform Commission announced that five new airports and three railway lines would be established. RMB5.49 billion will be invested to construct the new airports, including Songyuan Airport in Jilin Province, Golog Airport in Qinghai Province, Zalantun Airport in Inner Mongolia, Lancang Airport in Yunnan Province and Renhuai Airport in Guizhou Province. The three railways include Qianjiang-Zhangjiajie-Changde, Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou, and Zhengzhou-Wanzhou lines, with a total investment amount RMB144.516 billion. 


10/22   Mainland GDP grows 7.3% in the third quarter

The mainland's National Bureau of Statistics announced that the mainland's gross domestic product (GDP) grew at a 7.3% annual pace in the third quarter of 2014, hitting a six-year low. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said that growth was within the expected range and that the quality of economic growth in the mainland is improving.
