SEF Chairman Lin Join-sane met with Governor Li and welcomed him to Taiwan. He also emphasized that Taiwan is a pluralistic society where people are free to express their views. He hoped that the review process for the Cross-Straits Agreement on Trade in Services would not affect normal cross-strait exchanges and cooperation or consultations on follow-up agenda items. Jiangsu is an important center for Taiwan businesses. It is hoped the Jiangsu Province can provide more assistance and care for Taiwan businesses so that enterprises of the two sides can cooperate, jointly create global brands and global industry standards, open up global opportunities, further tap global markets, lead global market developments, and win the world's admiration. Governor Li stressed that the solid advances made through the development of two major platforms—the Cross-Straits Entrepreneurs' Summit and Kunshan Deepen Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Experimental Zones—Jiangsu will expand capabilities to support and serve Taiwan enterprises.

SEF Chairman Lin Join-sane led an SEF delegation to visit Taiwan businesses in Tianjin and Shijiazhuang and Baoding in Hebei Province on June 19 to 22. Director Zhang Zhijun of the mainland's Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) led a delegation to Taiwan for a four-day visit from June 25 to 28. On the first day of the visit, MAC Minister Wang Yu-chi and Director Zhang held the second meeting between the heads of the competent authorities for cross-strait affairs. The two sides communicated views on the development of cross-strait relations and other important issues.
